Challenge
In the beginning of 2018, one of the biggest Russian philately enthusiasts had an idea to create an app which will include the world largest post stamp catalog, which will be easy to use, well designed and, most important, updatable! Our client already had a hand-made excel e-catalog with images, descriptions, and all other necessary data. The main goal for Rubyroid Labs was the development of a well-designed, stable and secure application for both iOS and Android, which would be claimed by philately-lovers all over the world.
Rubyroid Labs team developed mobile apps and the landing web-page from scratch.
Solution
As the first step of development, our Business Analyst, in tight cooperation with the client, wrote technical requirements for the future app. We chose Agile methodology for this project. After the requirements were done, the design stage began. UI/UX designer drew wireframes and mockups of the application. One of the main challenges was parcing Excel files with more than 50.000 positions in more than 250 categories. We used “Roo” tool as it’s the most flexible solution on the market. Besides the marketing landing page and it’s SEO optimization, our team helped the product owners release Apps in Play Market and the App Store.
As a technology stack, we chose the React Native for mobile applications and Ruby on Rails for the backend. This approach helped us save time and resources while the client got a stable app in a short time at a low cost. For billing subscription support, we used React Native In-app Utils and React Native Billing for iOS and Android respectively.
